Original Maruzen Micro Uzi

When it comes down to it, When you
are house clearing, the precision head shots from an MP5 a la SAS style
swat team, are just not possible, You need to get in there, while under
heavy fire and take ground, and fast, In fact in the Urban airsoft world,
its doubtful wether you will have a stack of buddies lined up behind you
with their guns trained on the same target you have in your sights. at
best you will have your skirmish buddy covering your back, the time ticking
away, and a building that you have been ordered to take, Clear and hold.
Now, most rifles, will do for house
clearing, Hell! i still use a HK51, which is not exactly short, to clear
houses and bust corridors with, However, they are not ideal. Pistols are
a much better bet, but they dont usually have enough firepower to handle
all comers. you need something inbetween a pistol and a rifle, with some
serious firepower.
Now AEG's like the MP5K are good idea
and can be used very well in this job, however, I find that they can be
too specailised and lacking in power and accuracy when not in the close
combat situatuion, something a little smaller and easily holsterable that
can be kept out of the way when you are using you main rifle would be perfect.
Enter the Gas Blow back sub machine gun.
Small. light, packed with fire power
and more importantly one heck of a serious BARK!
Now in this arena we only have a few
serious contenders, These are of course the KSC MAC11, the Western Arms
PKF, select fire Colt 1911's, the Maruzen Mac11 and MP5K, and.. the Maruzen
Micro Uzi...
Out of all these the Micro Uzi has
consistantly made appearences in the DolphiN team armoury, There was of
course Pedro, one of our first generation team members who used a Micro
Uzi as his primary weapon for over two years before getting an aEG!
There was Matt from the RoK who succedded in blowing up all of his GBB's
bar his Micro Uzi.
What is it about this boxy little
sub gun that has made us select it over all others? Easy, Its a great Buzz
gun!
When it comes down to it a GBB SMG,
needs to put down a hail of fire, Fast. In the above room clearing scenario,
You usually need something that can take out the contents of a room without
coming under fire yourself, One way of doing this is by sticking your gun
round the door and emptying a magazine. Doing this with a lot of other
guns will result in the exposure of your central body mass, or at least
your arm to enemy fire, You want a miniumum of your self exposed to the
occupants of the room you are clearing.
Score one, Micro Uzi
the Micro Uzi can be fired one handed
quite easily, you can easily put the gun round a corner without exposing
yourself.
In the confines of a building, that
may have multiple exits, sometimes if you clear a building explosively
enough, making enough noise and storming through at such high speed that
it looks like a living whirlwind of destruction, The Enemy may well bug
out, instead of facing your fury and plastic wrath!
Score Two! Micro Uzi
When you use the Micro, people know
about it, The boxy exterior of the weapon allows for an oversize bolt and
a large chamber for it to work in. As it is a full blow back gas blow back,
the chamber is shot back and forth as the gun is fired. Coupling this to
the extended size of the magazine, and the high flow of gas from the magazines
means two things.
Lots of noise from the mechinism,
and One heck of a muzzle report!! When this ugly little box is firing at
full tilt, people know about it, Even out in the open, people are shocked
at the amount of fire that you can put out, and just how loud it is.
Once you have located a room with
the enemy in, the best way to get them out is to hit them with BB's, the
more the better, and The quicker the better! You need something with one
heck of a Rate of fire
Score three! Micro Uzi
The rate of fire in all of the Maruzen
Sub machine gun range is horrendous, Even the now antique InterTec KG-9,
which the Micro Uzi shares its internal anatomy with, (the internals of
the KG9, the Micro Uzi, and the Mac11 are virtually identical except with
improvements in each generation) had a stupid rate of fire. The Micro Uzi
continues the family tradition by spewing out a 50 round magazine of BB's
in under 2 seconds. Which as another review has stated is a cyclic rate
of fire of 1500 bb's per minute. This allows you to fill a room with BB;s
quite happily, The added effect of the high rate of fire, is the fact that
you, or at least your hand holding the micro Uzi with, is exposed to enemy
fire for a minimum amount of time! a good thing.
When engaging a target at close range,
Its nice if you can hit them. thats where an accurate little gun is appreciated,
When engaging multiple targets at very close range, you have two choices,
Be damn quick and engage each target in turn,. or have something that will
engage all of them at the same time! Shotgun loaded with buck shot? or..
Score Four! Micro Uzi!
Unlike some other GBB SMG's, the Micro
Uzi, has a CONE of fire, when fired in full auto. This translates to multiple
targets hit at close range, For example when clearing a room a simple sweep
with the likes of KSC MAC11 will result in a neat straight line of BB's
impacting along the walls of the room. With a Micro Uzi, due to its ferocious
rate of fire, The Heavy bolt moving back and forth and stupendous speed,
results in amazing felt recoil. By maintaing a firm, but not vice like
grip, this allows the gun to judder about like mad, (and even if you did
have a vice like grip, you would still be hard pressed to keep the Uzi
from going all over the place) result: BB's everywher in the room, Along
the walls, over the floor, into the ceiling, and hopefully into your targets
as well.
Hopefully there was no one in that
room that you wanted to rescue!
Having said that, The micro Uzi is
capable of nice accuracy at close range, if fired slowly and deliberately.
Also note that it only has a two stage safety/selecetor, You either "buzz"
or "dont buzz" with the push button, "Safe" and "full auto" settings.
Reliability.
When using a Sub gun at close ranges,
you want total reliabilty, after all you are operating right on the envelope,
moving fast, hitting hard. The last thing you want is your gun going down.
Especially with something like a compact SMG that you haven't used all
day and have just pulled out from your holster/hidey hole.
score Five! Micro Uzi!
When it comes down to the crunch the
Micro Uzi takes a beating and keeps on kicking. Its Boxy construction means
it can take the knocks and the poudings that you might not want your pristene
Wilson Combat to take, While the internal mechanism, is simple and tough,
with only a few moving parts to go wrong, and of course, the boxy design
allopws these componants to be a little bigger then normal, Which means
they are just that little bit tougher. Micro Uzi's also work with higher
pressure gases like HFC22, In fact, most Micro Uzi owners would even suggest
that Micro Uzi's thrive on the higher powered stuff. I'm not arguing. Maintaning
a micro Uzi is a simple case of racking back the action and liberally dousing
the thing in Silicone oil, taking attention with the feed tube. Closing
the action.. and thats it!
Compared to the KSC Mac11 which seems
to be a lot less reliable and much more prone to breakage..
Type U - New for 2002
The Type U version of the Maruzen
Micro Uzi differs from the orginal version
in a key area, The Magazine. The orignal used a old style magazine that
looked very much like the one found in the MAruzen NON BLOW BACK Micro
Uzi from the early 90's. As such it used an old style valving system and
held a small gas reservior which seemed to be taken from the MAruzen Walther
PPK/s NON BLOW BACK. This meant that the Orignal
GBB micro Uzi did have a small disadvantage when it came to gas capacity.
A full charge could still fire off an entire magazine worth of BB's but
It would struggle to empty the second load, and of course. Survival Gamers
of course, might not have the time to refill with gas AND BB's and were
becoming used to Newer gas magazines that had sufficent gas to last 3 maybe
4 magazine loads of gas.
The Type U Micro Uzi solves all of
these problems with a full size magazine, And a revised Valve mechanism
taken from the Maruzen Walther P99 and MAruzen Colt Groovy Government.
This should lead to increased reliability and performance!
However, Type U - Micro Uzi magazines
are no longer compatible with the Original GBB
Micro Uzi, Nor are the older magazines useable in the new type U, So
just watch out for that.
